Pittsburgh, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Accidentlawsuitfunding.com, a leading national lawsuit funding firm, announced today that they are putting a larger focus on bicycle and pedestrian accidents as both their lawsuit cash advance requests rise on these cases in conjunction with a recent enhancement initiative by the U.S. Transportation Secretary Foxx that was released in September.

There has been an increased number in bicycle and pedestrian accidents (both injuries and fatalities), and U.S. Transportation Secretary, Anthony Foxx, announced a new initiative to reduce those accidents with a complete and complex approach which addresses data collection, education, infrastructure safety, and vehicle safety. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, "The 18-month campaign will begin with road safety assessments conducted by U.S. Department of Transportation field offices in every state, and will produce multiple resources to help communities build streets that are safer for people walking, bicycling, and taking public transportation." Since 2009, pedestrian and bicycle accidents involving injuries and fatalities have progressively increased at a higher rate than motor vehicle fatalities.

According to the U.S. DOT, pedestrian deaths rose 6 percent and bicyclist fatalities went up nearly 7 percent from 2011 to 2012. According to the U.S. DOT, "The new pedestrian and bicycle safety initiative will promote design improvements to ensure safe and efficient routes for pedestrians and bicycles, promote behavioral safety, and provide education to help individuals make safer travel choices. The initiative will also encourage vehicle safety by drawing on current crash avoidance technologies to alert motorists to the presence of bicyclists and pedestrians." The new initiative will also concentrate its efforts on improving pedestrian and bicycle routes that access bus stops and train stations. ALF says applications involving: car or automobile, large commercial trucks, and bus and train accidents (FELA Cases) cause some of the most serious accidents to bicycle riders and pedestrians. Research shows that communities with lower incomes have higher rates of pedestrian deaths and less safe pedestrian infrastructure, despite its dependence on public transportation. With a rise in bicycle and pedestrian accidents, ALF, along with its funding partners, are dedicated to assisting clients and their family members who have been the subject of a serious accident while walking or involving a bike.

Chris Janish, CEO, commented on the company's new focus, "It is obvious by the U.S DOT's recent initiative to address the safety of bicycle and pedestrian accidents that these type of accidents are on the rise. In order to service this increasing market, ALF is putting a greater focus and resources to funding plaintiffs of these cases with our standard 24 hour approval process."
